Artist Statement
My art reflects the excitement of creating! There’s play between the piece being worked on and the way I respond directly to it. I enjoy bringing forth the properties of the medium as I create abstracted subject matter often based on many combined observations and feelings. Creating and sharing art and ideas makes life a joy!
My art has been/is in exhibits at: Frank Juarez Gallery, Latitude 43 at Blue Harbor, Plymouth Art Center, Cedarburg Cultural Center, Two Fish Gallery, MOWA, many Sheboygan Visual Artists Exhibits, UW-Sheboygan, Janesville Art League, Brickton Art Center, Indiana Green, Glas Coffeehouse, Z-Spot, Thelma Art Center in Fond du Lac, CVA, Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau and the WAG, Weidner Art Gallery, as well as in a number of private collections.
BACKGROUND
My art teaching career started in Milton and Monroe, WI, but most of my 30 years was spent teaching art in Janesville: K-12 through adults. When I was growing up there was no art offered in our schools. It has been an aim of mine to help educate and expose as many people to art as possible, since it has become so very important in my life. In addition to teaching, creating art has always been one of my priorities.
While in Janesville I was active in the Janesville Art League and continue to be one of the curators of their over 100 year collection.
When I moved to Sheboygan 9 years ago I joined the Sheboygan Visual Artists and was excited to become one of the many great artists working in Sheboygan and the area. As a past president of SVA I’m proud to continue being a strong advocate for them and for all visual artists.
